About the Padres
The Powell Padres is the parent-teacher organization at Powell Elementary Bilingual School. We are a 501(c)(3) volunteer-led organization. Our mission is set out in the bylaws:
Support the education of all Powell Elementary School students
Support Powell faculty and staff
Foster positive relationships among parents, staff, and community members
Assist Powell faculty and staff to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all students, families, and faculty can thrive and grow
Raise funds to provide enhanced opportunities for children at school
Create activities and forums that foster a sense of community between Powell students, faculty and staff, and the surrounding neighborhood
How We Operate
The Padres’ annual budget and activities are managed by an elected Board of Directors. Elections are held every year, and all members of the Powell community are welcome to run for a seat and to vote.
We also hold monthly meetings with the school community, and everyone is invited to participate. It’s a great way to stay informed, share ideas, and get involved. Come join us!
What We Do
Powell Padres is all about supporting our students, families, and school community. We do this in two key ways: by directly funding programs and events, and by rolling up our sleeves to volunteer our time and talents. Together, we help bring enrichment opportunities to the classroom, expand afterschool offerings for students, offer support to families when it's needed most.
Our funding and volunteer efforts also back programs like FoodPrints and other activities that make learning fun and meaningful. Beyond academics, we celebrate our teachers with appreciation events, contribute to the 5th grade promotion ceremony and yearbook, and organize community-building activities that bring families together.
From big milestones to everyday moments, we’re here to lift up our school, strengthen our community, and help every Powell student thrive.
The Powell Padres Board welcomes your suggestions, feedback, and questions. You can always reach us at info@powellpadres.org.
As part of the Powell community, you’re already a member of Powell Padres! Dates for this year’s meetings are posted on our school and events calendar—we hope you’ll join us.
